Andrew Forbes and Associates - company profileThe company is a successor to Saunderson Goldstein Forbes and Partners, which was founded in 1964 by the late Mr D.W. Saunderson. The company maintained offices in Johannesburg and Durban, and was instrumental in designing structures and infrastructure for major urban and suburban development in both cities. Over the decades it serviced major clients as diverse and demanding as Rand Mines, SM Goldstein Construction, Mercedes Benz of South Africa, PG Bison as well as numerous small developers of residential and commercial properties. With the retirement of Mr Saunderson in 1990, Mr A Forbes, together with Messrs McLuckie and Goldberg, formed the successor company Andrew Forbes and Associates. They carried on the servicing of existing clients, in addition to broadening their base. Mr Forbes retired in 2002, leaving the directorship in the hands of Messrs Goldberg and McLuckie. Mr. Goldberg received his University training in the prestigious US universities of Cooper Union (NY) and Stanford University (California), where he holds a MS in Civil Engineering from 1972. He immigrated to South Africa in 1980, and has been associated with the company since his arrival. His specialties include Structural Analysis, Structural Design, and Financial Management. He practices with PrEng license no. 870257. Mr McLuckie received his PrTech from The then Witwatersrand Technicon in 1973, and has been employed with various consulting practices until he joined the Saunderson organization in 1981. His specialties include Structural Design and Project Management. Mr McLuckie recently completed a 2-year on-site deployment as team-leader and Project Manager for a new Particle Board Factory for PG Bison in the Eastern Cape. His License no is 8670025. The design office also employs Mr F Gomes on a sub-consultancy basis. Mr Gomes was one of the original partners in the Saunderson organization. The firm also employs Messrs J. Molefi and O. Esterhuizen as full-time draftsmen. The office is fully equipped with the latest design and drawing software, as well as conventional drawing facilities for "back-up"situations. The firm is a member of the CESA, SAICE, and the SAISC. Andrew Forbes and Associates carries professional indemnity with Glenrand insurers for the sum of R10million per claim. Special arrangements can be made for specific projects. The firm is exempt from BEE considerations. |
